presented by the Center for a Loving Workplace

Making the Case for Love - Out Loud!

Fear is the default operating system of most workplaces. It shows up as mistrust, withholding, burnout, and silence — and it gets in the way of the work that matters most.

Love Lead Change exists to make the case, out loud and without hedging, that love is not the soft alternative to good leadership. It is good leadership. Each episode explores what it actually looks like to build workplaces — and lead change — from love instead of fear.

This podcast is one of the ways the Center for a Loving Workplace pursues its mission: creating, curating, and sharing research and insights for a global, heart-centered community of leaders and change-makers who want their organizations to be both more human and more effective.

Listen for…

Real conversations, not platitudes.

Hosts Renée Smith and Simon Phillips bring research-backed frameworks and hard-won field experience to every conversation — and invite the same candor from their guests.

A new lens each episode.

Guests are hosts of other respected shows who see the world of work through a different discipline — culture, systems, psychology, storytelling — and bring that lens to a single moment that matters in the employee life cycle - one they know best.

Grounding in the Loving Workplace Principles.

Every guest reflects on one of the Center's ten Loving Workplace Principles — where it shows up, where it breaks down, and what happens when it's missing.

Straight talk, not easy answers.

We ask directly: where is love gaining traction at work right now? Where are the roadblocks? What's actually working to move organizations from fear to love — and what's still inconsistent about the world of work today?

A takeaway you can use.

Every guest leaves listeners with one guiding principle of their own to carry into their work.

About The Upcoming Season

This season, we're doing something a little different: our guests will be experts in organizations and leadership who host other podcasts. We will be talking to people who think seriously about work — from culture and leadership to systems, psychology, and human behavior. We’ll invite each of them to explore a single key moment in the employee life cycle they're most passionate about. We want to hear their insights and stories. And we will ask them to reflect on one of our Loving Workplace Principles too.

The result is a season built on cross-pollination — new voices, new disciplines, and new evidence that the shift from fear to love in the workplace is already underway in more places than you'd think.

Meet Simon and Renée

A family tragedy once brought Renée Smith's life to a standstill — and taught her, in the hardest way possible, that love is what carries people through when everything else falls apart. She's spent the years since turning that conviction into a career: researching and writing about love and fear in the workplace, delivering keynotes in 20 countries, and serving as Director of Workplace Transformation for the State of Washington. Today, as co-founder and CEO of the Center for a Loving Workplace, she's on a mission to put love at the center of how the world works.

Simon Phillips was educated at the University of St Andrews, trained at Accenture, and molded in the mangled wreckage of his car! A lifetime of ups and downs taught him how to navigate change and inspire others to do the same. He's on a mission to develop 1 Million Change Makers. Three best-sellers, published in 16 countries in multiple languages, and 20 years after his first book, Simon continues to write on the subjects closest to his heart - change, relationships, loving leadership, and personal effectiveness.
